A series of writing prompts from my personal snippets archives. If something strikes your fancy, let me know! I would love to see what you create! Check out the previous prompt here.
Sophie lives on Draftonport, a small island off the coast of Maine. It gets some tourists but not too many, and is a cozy little spot where nothing unusual ever happens. Nothing that’s unusual, that is, to the locals.
The local paper is chock full of strange happenings that are pretty commonplace—Miss Anne’s “dog” tore a hole through a fishing shack and ate all the fishing lines for the third time that year, the ghoul that works at the bank decided to go on strike and no ones checks have been able to be cashed for two weeks, Steve’s mailbox tried to bite the mailman for the fifth time and he was given a public warning to ensure it got a well-rounded diet, and the creature that lives off the northeastern shoals decided to go on a romp through everyone’s lobster traps last week like it was its own personal buffet.
When a new resident inherits his great-aunt’s old house, reportedly haunted and sitting on a treasure the old lady never let anyone verify, Sophie puts it upon herself to welcome him to his new home. He’s young, handsome, and extremely concerned about the sanity of the whole town—Sophie included. Will her welcome wagon turn him away or get her closer to the best story in town?
The Spiraling, my debut book, is out now! Check it out on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or wherever you buy books online. I’m so excited for this book to be out in the world, and I can’t wait for you to read it.
